Awareness

Awareness during anaesthesia is very uncommon. Awareness is becoming conscious during some part of an operation under general anaesthesia.
To minimise this risk special monitors are used during the operation to record how much anaesthetic is in your body and how your body is responding to it. This allows your anaesthetist to judge how much anaesthetic you need to keep you unconscious.
If you still have concerns, your anaesthetist will be more than happy to discuss this matter in detail.

Permanent Nerve Damage

Death

Death due to anaesthesia is very rare. The reported risk of death from anaesthesia is estimated to be as low as 0.01 – 0.04%
